They have done me. Nick on the median nerve, which should heal. The tendon I severed is the vestigial one they borrow for tendon transplants, so they didn't bother repairing it. Keeping me in overnight because the arm is completely numb, an will be for many hours yet. Imagine what your mouth is like after the dentist only on a whole arm scale. Going to be one handed for weeks if not months. Never mind D.C. Hope I can use my hand for Orkney in June....!!!
The cat is going to kill me when I get home...!!!
At least you are mended!!!
And hopefully OK for the next tie ... we'll be thinking of you!

Safe travels to everyone on the road to Rouen. So sad I can't make a second tie in a row but started a new job this week so asking for a few days off was not an option but will really miss being with you all.Absolutely sure you'll do the lads proud and hope we can get to the semi's as I think I will be able to make those dates. I'll be on the sofa cheering on Sat and Sun, but will have to watch Friday recorded
Teresa - so sorry to hear of your injury, sounds really nasty but hopefully you're on the mend now. Very bad luck to happen now but so long as you're healing that is the most important thing
Have a great time AMFFers, will be looking out for you on TV :GBflag::GBflag::GBflag:

just a word of information. If the singles on Day 1 are finished early enough, there may be an important Ice hockey match taking place at the Ile Lacroix, the Arena in the middle of the Island across from the Main city. It is the French league playoff final, game 6 between Rouen and Gap. I say 'may be' taking place, because it is a best of 7 series, and one or the other team may have won by then. However if any-one is interested and has the time to go, check out http://www.rouenhockeyelite76.com/ for information and ticket availability. Any-one with any interest in Ice Hockey would find it well worth a visit.
The latest situation is that Rouen are 3-2 behind in the best of 7 series, so must win tonight (FRIDAY) to take the series into a decider. So it would be an excellent game to see.
Certainly looks as if the singles will be finished early enough...

Meant to ask you last night pat, but did you manage to get in to the arena in time to see any practice? Glad you are home Teresa, I hope it all heals well.

Lovely to bump into you on our way out, we thought we'd be the last ones left. We left right after we saw you but with shuttle delays, lane closures and 50 zones it took longer than expect. Even a road closure 5 miles from home lol. Finally got in a few minutes ago! Worse for the driver though.
Wonderful to see you all and catch up :) It was a shame about the result but such a great weekend regardless. Always great company. I am really looking forward to next time. Shame it's months away :( but probably see some of you before then :)

The five of us got home ok about 6pm last night having left Rouen at 12, pretty good journey, just a 5 min delay on M62 coming back from Liverpool Airport but lucky because it was caused by people slowing down with a bad accident and the motorway completely blocked in the other direction and at least a 3 mile queue past our exit, so glad it wasn't on our side. We had a terrific time, though much more costly for Mark and Myself eating out with our partners in more expensive places and i've seen the shopping bags.... but not the bills yet!
Great to see so many forum people even if I wasn't able to attend the meal, really sorry Goldfish, you did a wonderful job! Also amazing we ate in same Restaurant as Judy and family two consecutive nights, her mum and dad are really wonderful characters. Those places cost considerably less than Gill though, doubt if I will ever again pay as much for the meal, was it worth it?...well my wife enjoyed immensely and I had a good time, the food was excellent, we had about 5/6 "extra" dishes on top of our 3 courses, champagne, wine and finished with Irish Coffee, roughly 3 hours of enjoyment......I pointed out to my wife, it was still less than 2 tickets to the Mariinsky Ballet in the summer at Covent Garden, which cost £150 each (and we're going twice!)

Hi Pat, you're probably on your way home by now so hope you have a safe and trouble free journey. Thanks for your company over the weekend and look forward to seeing the photos sometime. Despite the disappointing result we all had a great time in a beautiful city in lovely weather.
I think I could describe my journey home as pretty awful. Just caught my Air France flight to Manchester by the skin of my teeth due to delayed trains; switched my phone back on in Manchester to find an email from Flybe telling me that my flight to Edinburgh had been cancelled. Then got stuck in limbo in transit because of the cancellation, finally released to trail back to customs check and a visit to Flybe desk where I was offered the choice of a seat on the next flight at 20.40 or a taxi to Birmingham for the 18.50 so chose the latter along with a £7.50 refreshment voucher. So another security check later sitting in waiting lounge watching all other flights getting gate numbers except mine when rumour filtered through that our flight was to be amalgamated with Glasgow one at 19.25, but no announcement made or information from Flybe - the natives were becoming decidedly restless. Apparently Flybe (alias MaybeFlybe) have previous for this. Only after the Glasgow flight was called for boarding were we told be a Flybe rep that we would be on that flight calling first at Glasgow and then hopping across to Edinburgh, which happened after a half hour wait on the ground. Luckily my very patient friend, who had been on call to pick me up since the original 18.05 landing, collected a very tired me just before 11pm and I fell in the door half an hour later. I think a strongly worded letter will be winging its way to Flybe sometime soon. However one stressful day won't spoil my enjoyment of yet another great forum weekend.

What a terrible journey you had Rona! Memories of my return journey from Ghent! Yes, I have heard on occasion Flybe does things like that. I had only a slight delay at Heathrow for a bag to be taken off belonging to a passenger who had missed boarding - just enough delay to mean I had to get a train(£12) from Edinburgh instead of the bus (free) but I was back in my house just after 10pm. It was a great weekend despite the result and thanks to everyone for your company. We'll meet again next year somewhere!
we were lucky enough to catch up with many either by accident or on purpose before leaving but didn't get to see jagmad and lynee again after our fun evening on Saturday. I hope you guys got home ok and we will see you next time.
Sally, Glenys and Jan, we had hoped to catch you guys on Sunday night but deux meme only offered a plate of vegetables for Liv so we went next door. Unfortunately when we came out we had missed you. Look forward to seeing you next time :)
What a great weekend, even with the loss. It was wonderful to meet up with everyone again. My journey home was very smooth, big thanks again to Liz, Maud, Gina and Joyce for their company on the journey. It's always a pleasure to spend time with the lovely people from this Forum. Here's to the next time!
Yes, another fantastic weekend at DC is over. Had a brilliant time despite the loss and can't wait to do it all again next year!
It seems quite a few of you had nightmarish journeys. Ours was very smooth but still tiring after a weekend of more fun than sleep! Our early start from Rouen meant we were home by 2.30pm so I managed to unpack, walk the dogs with hubby, do grocery shopping, cook dinner and make today's lunch boxes .... and breathe. I didn't want to get out of bed when the alarm went off at 5.45 this morning that's for sure!

Got home to a mess of work but I'll message you when I know what's what to arrange a visit. Probably come down over the weekend. For now I have to bury my head back in it.
Thanks to Jan,Liz, Maud & Gina for their company & case-lifting on the way home, & Pat for her company & case-lifting on the way there. Plane back to Aberdeen was delayed. Landed 18.12, taxi 18.18, station 18.28 for Inverness train at 18.31. PHEW!
Great weekend. Thanks to Sally & Goldfish for their part in organising - & to JimmyG for case-carrying up to the 4th floor...
I've spoken to Eurolines/National Express Customer Service - They have written everything down and passed it to Customer relations to "investigate" (really? I'd mke up THAT story?!!!)
He's written down about the taxi to St Lazare station and that I have a receipt - hubby doesn't think I'll get the taxi fare - watch this space cos I will so be getting something from them more than just a refund
Booking.com requested a review of the Astrid - I have been pretty scathing, and entitled my review 'don't stay at the Astrid'. Do you think that was harsh, or deserved?
I'm just checking in to say I've arrived back home safely after a long, but smooth, journey home. Joyce, it was much less stressful getting back to the airport than it was when we arrived! Some of you didn't have such an easy journey home, especially Rona! How dreadful for you. It was a magic weekend made up of the very best of company, brilliant summer weather, lovely food and wine, lots to see and do, and in there too was some great tennis, despite the result! When we got to our room it smelt damp. We found the reason. Our bathroom door was too short for the aperture, leaving a massive gap at the bottom. So when your got showered after a few minute the water poured from the bathroom floor ;no shower tray) out through the gap and into the bedroom carpet. It was wet to the edge of the bed everyday. The other problems didn't annoy me too much but the puddle carpet was gross smelly and a general pain as you had to put your shoes on as soon as you got up lol

Glad to here you arrived home safe, pat. You were the last to leave. Hope to see you at the meet up in September, or if not then in February :)
Those of us who stayed at the Astrid are home with very well developed (and sore!) thigh muscles as the lift was out of order, so we were forced to climb mountains of stairs, in my case to the 5th floor! The stairs were winding and not very well lit. An automatic light did come on eventually, but not until after I had stumbled. (It probably would have helped if I had remembered to remove my sunglasses!) I also thought the hotel was very poorly soundproofed, and as the doors were heavy, they made quite a bang when being closed. However, staff were lovely.

Am SO glad the journey back was easier, Pat. But we got there - & what a gr8 weekend it was! :-) Thanks for your part in that! x

Haha :rolling: sorry jerry dunno why but i just found this funny ;)

I once stayed in an Italian hotel with a similar design. Bathroom was on a slope and all the water gathered down the sink end then seemed into the bedroom.
The Astrid had its problems but it's a BUDGET hotel. You get what you pay for. Admittedly the lift being out of order was a pain (didn't really bother me too much but obviously not good for arthritic knees etc), but of course not their fault, these things happen. I mentioned the bathroom problems in my trip advisor review, they just need shower curtains / screens. However, the staff were friendly, it was clean, there was hot water and breakfast was just fine for a budget hotel. We hardly spent any time there so it was fine for me. And like you Jerry, you just have to laugh!
I'm just checking in to say I've arrived back home safely after a long, but smooth, journey home. Joyce, it was much less stressful getting back to the airport than it was when we arrived! Some of you didn't have such an easy journey home, especially Rona! How dreadful for you. Glad you had a smooth, tho' long, journey home, Pat. So agree with you on the delights of Rouen and the group camaraderie.

We made it worse. Kev for example kept sitting on the bed to put his socks on and then standing up in a puddle only to need more socks. I couldn't help but laugh. Then when we were checking out I knelt in the flood plains to check under the bed! lol I just refused to learn. After getting showered we out all four towels in the floor the floor to soak some of it up. It was only when I rung them out to lay them down again I realised I hadn't left a towel for our hands. So I had to get another :)

Worth pointing out that we did have FRONT ROW SEATS!!!
:boogie:
The bods below us were all VIPS of some sort and to be honest any further down and the view of court isn't so good so IMHO they were welcome to be sat there.
Did I mention that the Duchess of Gloucester came over to say "hello" to our group this time.
She was lovely; stressed how much the team valued our support and how great it was that we were always in attendance. I told her how nice it was that she also gave her unstinting support - which she does!

That must have been after I told you to behave and stick your flag over the parapet instead of waving it constantly and blocking my view!!!

Yes you can just see a tiny bit of it next to the AMFF flag
edit: should have said sorry Sally, I know I jump up a lot, however, all the pics and videos I saw of me waving flag were on Sat or Sun when Mary BATS was behind me

Sally didn't, my tickets were as far away from Sally as possible, far end of the forum in front of some BATS, LOL . I think it was maybe Theresa's seat but KevD moved there and as I was next to JerryD we swapped places. Mind you, when KevD jumps up, which he did quite a bit, he is even taller than me and I think he was there Saturday and Sunday.

I was just about to say that was our fault. Sorry Sally. When Roy offered to swap we didn't consider his epic flag. Kev was up and down all weekend, probably even more than me, but his flag is only a small one, we got it from Belgium as we lost one there. It's actually quite pathetic as flags go. The seats were great though :) as was liv's interview. Unfortunately in the moment I couldn't find my phone so I recorded it on hers but haven't seen the footage. Let's see it then yellowlivi

Jerry is Kev ok with you announcing his size problem?;);)
Sure your not using flag as a euphemism I had to read that several times.
My goodies arrived today. So a big thanks to Patlowe for collecting them and sending them to me. Also a big thanks to the folks that organised the T Shirts, and to Sallydaisy for finding me an official T Shirt and the program.
Many thanks to all.

me and Wardysarus :D
To be honest, I'm really surprised I didn't fall asleep in my dinner on Saturday night! - reminds me - got an email from the coach company
They've "refunded" me £20 (which is I assume towards the taxi i shelled out for) and given me a voucher against travel with them again (hahahahahahahaha they think i'm using them again?! ) - I have replied telling them what I think to that
