Wasn’t expecting anything from this tie except maybe the doubles. Cam and Liam have done brilliantly, unfortunately now I feel this was a missed opportunity. 1-1 after the first day and Inglot didn’t start playing til it was too late. Really we should be going to a 5th rubber potentially with Kyle.
For the future though we have a brilliant squad now. Broady obviously a good doubles player as well. We’ve got the best doubles player in the world (in my opinion) in Jamie, Andy coming back, Kyle who’s just made a slam semi and is now top 30, looking at Cam he looks top 50 at least and a great big match performer and last but not least broady who is coming up as well
I know what you mean. We weren't expecting anything and have ended up losing but with a great new player. I feel it's not a flash in the pan and that he will be an exciting top player for us all to watch going forward. For me he had the mental character to deal with situations that many don't or have to learn to deal with. It could so easily have gone to last rubber but even then of course no certainty we could have won. It was very tough and we did much better than anyone thought.
Have been away/busy for the entire weekend, so have had to rely on BBC live text - thank goodness for it!!!
Cam - WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that if we have the full team out we have a strong squad, but looking ahead in a couple of years time I can see major overhauls with the squad. Andy won't prioritise DC (assuming he's fit), which leaves Kyle as no.1. That's fine, and we've seen Norrie's potential, but he won't be taken lightly if he steps on court for a DC tie again. And world rankings don't lie, there are reasons why the rest of our singles players are ranked 100+.
The doubles pair of Jamie & Dom are an excellent combo, but as we saw on Saturday, put them on a slow court against 2 singles players who can dictate points, and the traditional doubles skills of strong serve, intercepting, and teamwork are very much negated. Jamie's not getting any younger either so we will need to replace on or the other in a couple of years I reckon. Interesting times ahead.

Just to say that Jamie is still relatively young as a doubles player. (There are only 5 players in the top 30 players younger than his age - 31! ;) )
I got to stay in a stately house, which is now a hotel, so I didn't get to see much of the tie. I did get see some of Cameron Norrie's match against Bautista Agut and the doubles match. I couldn't believe he came back from two sets down and as for Dom Inglot, I just wished Andy was playing instead of him.
Did we (AMFF) get an email from the president of the LTA thanking us for our support at DC? Just wondering because murraynators did and they also got a thank you tweet from Jamie. Feel like we are being sidelined and we were the originals

We did ...
:shades:
... just working out how best to share it with everyone given that we're a publicly viewed forum!

Yeah i seen the tweet from jamie..he said murraynators, barmy army & all the other fans, i know mo was a bit ****** off about it as well & felt sidelined. Was nice of jamie but would have been better just saying thanks to all the fans rather than mentioning certain groups. I dont think its fair either caro.

Oh good, I would have been surprised if we hadn't tbh, but just hadn't seen anything on here. Yes, it's difficult with it being an open forum. I wonder whether it's possible to have a members only section that can't be accessed by anyone else. It would certainly be useful when discussing attendance at DC etc.

I am sure Jamie meant absolutely nothing but the best with that tweet but you're right, it just would have better not to mention any names. If he's anything like me, I always forget someone ;)
A member's only section wouldn't really work, it's the easiest thing in the world to join up. However, password protection and parts accessible to members with over a certain number of posts is certainly possible base on other vBulletins forums I am a member of.

We've had password protected areas before so that would work here.

I think it'd be easier for me to PM the letter to all DC goers ... same process as PM'ing all those people with a password!!!
(and no need then for a separate forum to be set up).
;)
But having a password protected area for active members only would give the opportunity to discuss things that we can't discuss on the open forum. I think it would be a great idea ... but it's not me that would have to arrange and moderate it, i do appreciate that.

Well anyone who wants to can sign up to be an active member and see everything anyway. Don't see the point - apart from trying to create an exclusive area for certain people.

I think arranging a passsword protected area is not that difficult to actually set up.

I think that's why hawkeye suggested members with certain number of posts. Though KevD would have tell a lot more jokes to see it lol :) :)

Well that's that idea down the pan.
Just not prepared to tolerate that!
;)
Kev! You'll just have to rely on your wonderful other half...... Again.

That's not the point though, members are not restricted in being allowed to view the stuff the LTA don't want discussed on the open internet anyway. The problem with the forum is that non members can come on and view stuff as well. Murraynators can post openly because it's a closed group for example which makes it a lot easier.
Some of us would like to be able to chat about these 'banned' topics that's all. It would also mean that Sally could post openly without having to PM us all individually which takes more time. It was just an idea ...
