Andy's opponent in R1 at the AO is 19yr old Ryan Harrison WR#84.

They've not met before so the H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=MC10&oId=H940) is 0-0.
The young American has risen up the rankings rapidly over the last year and is regarded as a potential top 10 player. However, Andy showed us only a few days ago how he can tackle they 'young guns' with his demolition of Bernard Tomic in the Brisbane Semi-Finals.

Here's hoping for a straightforward 3 sets win for Andy - not too much to ask is it?

Erm, looking at Djo's hard court GS performances last year, and Rafa's, in a word, no!

As regards Ryan, Andy tends to be nervous in the first few games of the GS, so we may have to be patient in the first set. But Andy will ideally have to NOT start the tournament at 1 out of 10, but preferably 6 or 7 to appease our hearts both physiologically and emotionally! :)

Looking at Andy's draw I can see similarities in the draw to the one that Nole had last year. He faced the reigning Champion in the semis and look what happened. He will have the Spanish Terrier in the quarters and that should wear Nole out. Andy is due to face a Tsonga in the quarters who has lost his last 2 matches and is fatigued from the Match in Doha, so we don't know what state he will be in next week. While I would be very surprised if either Rafa or Federer make the finals. I feel there will be a shock finalist from that side of the draw, however I don't feel that Del Potro will be a finalist. I just think that with Lendl in his corner they will map out how to approach each opponent and Andy will play calmly following the game plan. I can see Andy winning this year.

and dont even get m started on the fed being handed a cushy little 7pm start time while his main competitor will be forth on tomorrow which involves so man extra complications

Don't knock the Beeb too much - these are tough times all round. The advertising channels are struggling too, so doubtless they'll be cutting back. I think the important thing is all four of the ladies before Andy are solid ranking players (Dulko less so but then there is her doubles experience and I have seen her trouble big seeds enough at GSs to ensure a lengthy match) and, unless injured or out of sorts, are unlikely to roll over. Another way of saying very unlikely to get many sets with bread products and possibly 1, even 2, going to three sets. The first especially is about as close in ranking terms as you can get with a seed (29 playing 39).
In many ways a worst case scenario then: up for three and possibly waiting until five!

Double break down. Not the start we wanted. On the whole it is the quality of Harrison's play that has done this, but Andy perhaps not starting aggressively enough. He has to learn to start tourneys at a high level.
If this set has gone he has to be really careful to start the second aggressively. Do not want a five set thriller in 95º of heat.
