Heavy rain off and on here today but still muggy. In and out taking the washing in. There was a wedding in the village yesterday - pony and trap arrival at the church. Luckily the weather held out till the evening although the day was cloudy. Typical when we've had weeks of lovely weather.

We had lovely weather this morning - sat out for a cuppa at a friends and had lunch outside. Took the washing in after lunch as it was all dry and went indoors to sort out banking before heading out to pay it all in .... except we couldn't get out of the house cos it was absolutely torrential rain - we ended up with a pond at the front door after about 5 minutes!

Got back to Las Vegas yesterday. Can't believe the fab weather I had in the UK. Only rained three times in 5 weeks!!! When I arrived on the drive from the airport, on the day I went to Wimbledon :(, and once during the night. When I arrived in Vegas yesterday the lightening and rain started on the drive from the airport and by the time we got home it was torrential rain and severe weather warning here. At least the lightening held off until after I took off at gatwick and after i landed in Vegas. Phew!!!

Thanks Pat, it was good meeting you too. I really fell in love with the beaches there. I'd never visited the South Wales beaches before. Of course it helped with the good weather and being with my son and grandkids. Nothing better than jumping waves with the kids. :)

I do hope everyone is ok and not suffering too much because of 'Doris'. It blew a hoolie here during the night, but fortunately no power cuts and no trees down. The sea was mighty. I notice it is very quiet on here so I'm rather hoping that it's not because of power cuts etc? Take care all.

After looking at the TV reports we got off lightly here today, thankfully. It blew hard enough but I've known much worse. The morning was very very dark with an eerie calm and quiet. Deepest snow here in the Midlands that I have known for years! Our village is on a hill and even worse than just 2 miles down the road. On Sunday when I had nowhere I needed to be it was fine and the dogs loved their walks in the snow.
I managed to get in to work on Monday and yesterday by walking the 2.5 miles to the train station in the pitch dark across fields of knee deep snow ... the lengths we go to for the NHS! Luckily the trains were running and virtually on time too.
Today I got my car out of the village for the first time and now, it has just started raining so hopefully all the icy pavements will thaw

Hurricane Ian - We are Camphosting at a RV park in Jacksonville, Florida and got evacuated due to the hurricane. We put our motorhome in storage and they gave us a cabin to ride out the storm, as we will have to get the campground ready for occupation after the storm goes through and before anyone can return. The storm is due to go through here tonight. It will be a category 1 but fortunately it is off coast. Hopefully just high winds but already had some tree limbs down and some trees have fallen on base. We are also on a river and the storm surge has already caused the water level to rise, hopefully it won't come up much further. Another 6 hours to high tide.

Ok, good news. We survived and are safe. No damage to us or the campground. Just debris and the water has risen from hide tide & storm surge along the river. It went under the gazebo which is above ground but not in it. Phew!!
When my husband went in to inspect it, he heard a noise in the water under the gazebo and saw an alligator making a quick getaway. I guess he thought he found a safe place under the gazebo. We have seen alligators here before in the stream between us and the golf course. They hang out at the golf course. One always has a turtle friend on his back!! Anyway, I digress!!! We spent the day cleaning the campground of debris and started welcoming our campers back. The majority will return tomorrow. Normal business is resumed.
This storm is still on a destructive path as it comes back to land further up the coast. Thoughts and prayers for everyone impacted by it.
As a side note, my eldest son is named Ian and he told me: "See Mum, I always create havoc!!"

Thanks for all your kind words. It certainly is a different world. To be honest I'm more scared of the water moccasins, who can be well camouflaged and you have to watch where you walk through the woods. Some places they are in the trees as well. The alligators I just stomp as I walk, and make a lot of noise, so they hear us coming and quickly scoot away. I believe the trick is not to surprise them!!! They seem well fed from the environment, and calmly sunbathe by the lake at the golf course. Of course, if your ball goes in or near the lake you don't bother to try and retrieve it while they're there!! If we still had our dog though I wouldn't be walking anywhere near them.
The weather has returned to normal, blue skies and sunshine. Hopefully the next disturbances will stay away from any land.

6 inches of snow last night. On top of at least 5 inches of very wet snow yesterday:snowing::brr:
How are things today? We have blue skies :)

Well, hope to see blue skies and sun, and as little rain as possible, :laugh:when we come over from May to October. Majority of that time in Scotland and Ireland. :help:What's the chances? :worship: :big grin:

It stopped snowing around 9 am and then gradually the sun came out. But roads were blocked this morning. Sun came out from late morning so very pretty for a few hours. Going to be cccccold tonight though.

Never seen such huge differences in weather forecasts as I've seen for tonight. BBC says -11 and Met -1 for Sheffield . They were fairly different for yesterday too and the Met Office won.

No, I didn't. Wanted Center and the day I really wanted had sold out, considered others but ultimately decided against it. I may well regret that decision, but it is what it is. We have so much packed into our trip that we have to forgo some things. Hubby has given up a lot, so it was my turn. I wish the dates hadn't changed a couple of years ago as I loved when it was end of June as always had tennis on my birthday and I will be in London for my birthday.

Don't know when your Birthday is but there's Queens and Eastbourne is doable for a day from London. I go from Croydon which is only marginally nearer

Thank You, yes Queens is on when I'm there, but I want to spend time with my family as they are on their holidays that week. I've accepted that I probably won't go to any matches but I will definitely be trying to watch on tv/internet there.

Hubby and I are in Kingussie and hoping the weather improves tomorrow for bagging Cairngorm. Were hoping to do it today but there was talk of thunder so was too dodgy.

We are just north of Inverness. Went into Inverness today, rain held off. Did you manage Cairngorm?

We did but had to stop there :) couldn’t go on to Ben Macdui. Mist was down, then rain and crazy wind the whole time :rolling: summer! Had the most appreciated soup and roll at the top, a great day overall!

Congratulations, glad you managed Cairngorm in those conditions, that's awesome. I wish we could walk/climb more but my husband fell and hurt his "good" knee just before we came over. That and we both have arthritis which doesn't help, but we are trying to go out one day and rest one day. At least we have warmer temperatures at the levels we are at. Did have to put a rain jacket on today though.
