For those with square eyes!

In between watching tennis last night saw the final of Celebrity Apprentice. Was thrilled Piers Morgan won though I thought there was a lot of venom directed his way. Glad the Donald understood what his programme is about...making money for charity which Piers did superbly albeit using ruthless tactics and his celebrity contacts. Love that programme.

Wow you're seeing it ages after it showed over here. But let's face it, Piers Morgan has got more smarts than all the rest of 'em put together. And then some. It wasn't a hard decision.

We've had three Celeb Apprentice series since Piers won. Enjoyabvle show even tho' I can't stand Trump. But I quite like his kids esp. Ivanka.

Autumn TV viewing ........
Dr Who, Downton
and Strictly!!!

Here's this years line-up - looks like an entertaining mix as usual.

Alex Jones - TV presenter, One Show host
Anita Dobson - actress, ex-Eastender, married to guitarist Brian May of Queen
Chelsee Healey - actress, Waterloo Rd
Edwina Currie - ex Tory MP,
Holly Valance - Australian actress (Neighbours) and singer
Lulu - you make me wanna SHOUT
Nancy Dell'Olio - Property lawyer (apparently), single again, dangerous

Audley Harrison - British boxer, Olympic gold medallist
Dan Lobb - TV presenter and former tennis player (never eard of im)
Robbie Savage - Welsh footballer
Harry Judd - drummer with McFly
Rory Bremner - impressionist, comedy and satire
Jason Donovan - Australian actress/singer/West End star
Russell Grant - astrologer and actor

dan lobb is the guy Judy has a wee crush on. She and him tweeted each other throughout Wimbly. I had to google him. He's very good looking. We have some interesting people on our Dancing with the Stars inc. Cher's son-daughter Chaz-Chastity.

I'd never heard of Dan Lobb either, so looked him up on ATP website. Reached a CH of 929 in 1997.

Never heard of several of the others, either, but doubt I'll find them on ATP website!

  I'd never heard of Dan Lobb either, google is handy at times, familiar with some of them but NANCY deary me awful I know but that woman does irk me some & Alex Jones well all I am going to say is that's why I don't watch the One Show, I suppose it could be fun to watch :drunken:

I wish I got some of the British shows. But I spend enough time as it is watching the American ones. I watched the new Jonathan Ross show on YouTube last night. Seemed awfully similar to his BBC show except this had ad breaks.

We have a show I love called Dinner Party Wars with Anthea Turner as host. I remember her from Blue Peter and as Peter Powell's wife who went off with another dude and couldn't have his baby. Anyway, here she is in Canada hosting a Canadian show. Go figure!

My tv viewing today started early watching England v Scotland in the Rugby World Cup. Immediately after watched Andy beat Gilles on a livestream. At 6 o'clock watched play-off between Saints and Wigan which Saints won which meant we are in the Grand Final once again. Later in evening watched a recording of the match. So just sport today. Still haven't seen Strictly.

Well it's definitely not rocket science stuff but in my book it's easy watching entertainment. Must admit I rarely go by reviews as, unless I have exactly the same taste as the reviewer, it's all very subjective IMHO. Mr P always looks at the reviews for films on tv and how many stars they've got........I've often persuaded him to watch something with 2 * and we've enjoyed it despite the poor recommendation.

i was watching andy figuring out matt ebden, and there was a pic of a guy doing this really amazing stunt.
he had a table full of crockery, teapot, milk the works
and he just tweaked the cloth out from under - which was pretty neat,
but then he flicked the cloth back under the teapot and so on
clever eh? never do that again i thought
but he did, two minutes later he came back and pulled the same stunt again!!
just wondered if anyone else had seen it?

It kind of looked like he did it, but it could have been clever camera work.

He held the cloth taut against the top of the table, with the edges held low down, and kind of 'scooped' it very fast under all the stuff on the table.

I suspected it was real simply because all the stuff wobbled about and got messier - if they'd faked it, that would be less likely maybe?

I hear Jonathan Ross loves it! I'll see if it gets picked up and then watch the repeats in the summer. Unfortunately in the US many new shows get the can after only a handful of episodes so I try not to watch them until they get the all-clear.

I know - it's soooooooooo annoying. We started watching a few things we thought were good only for them to be ditched and something we thought less good to be commissioned for a further season! For example we liked The Chicago Code and much preferred it to Blue Bloods but the former has been ditched and the latter re-commissioned.

Being half Scottish it was fascinating to discover so much, good and bad, about how Scotland has developed as a nation, how it has affected the development of other world nations and the part played by many of its famous and infamous sons. Bound to be repeated some time so well worth a watch if you are interested in Scotland and history.

I think that's a fairly famous anagram now, Linda :)

It was used as a codename for Doctor Who when they started filming the new series in 2005, so it could be discussed without the public getting wind of the new production - then it was re-used as a kind of in joke for the spin-off series.

British series being shown on PBS:

Downton Abbey second series began last Sunday - was OK but it's very soapy, isn't it? They move very fast in the storylines. Do hope Mr Bates comes back to marry the maid.

Hustle - this is the fifth series (that was shown in the UK in 2009 I believe). The adorable blond guy and the dark haired girl have gone. And they've been replaced by two young siblings, one of whom looks just like Kylie Minogue. But the black dude is back (yay).

Ashes to Ashes - set in the 80s. Not as good as Life on Mars.

Waking the Dead. Don't know which series this is as I've just started watching it. Trevor Eve's character is a bit gruff. Good storylines, though.

Joan Rivers and her daughter Melissa have shown themselves to be really nasty and two-faced. Melissa was fired on Tuesday night and Joan, in a rage, walked out. Both of them left to bleep, bleep, bleep (American TV doesn't broadcast bad language) but certain remarks directed at two contestants were clearly heard...whore and white trash included. They weren't even on the same team. I was hoping Joan had gone for good but she turned up the next day and now she is in the Final. Never realised how nasty she is....just hope she doesn't win. Do you lot get Donald Trump's Celeb Apprentice (USA version). It's a riot!!! I'm watching The Voice tonite for the first time but don't hold out much hope I'll like it.

Just finished watching Great Expectations with Gillian Anderson as Miss Haversham. I thought it dragged a bit and I didn't really take to the actor who played Pip. Looked pretty but that's about all he did. The supporting cast was quite good.

Anyone been watching BGT or the voice? I watch both much to my fiances disgust! Must say the voice had more appeal in blind auditions, has lost it's edge now. Prefer BGT now we are at live shows, hate all the auditions!

Anyone been watching BGT or the voice?!

Watched a bit of BGT - missed most of the auditions this year although the couple I did see were much better than previous years. I always got annoyed with them because they seemed to spend more time on the people who were rubbish than the ones who were good - I guess a lot of other people felt the same as they seemed to have cut most of that out this time around.

I'm going to watch the live shows though - Dave is away all this week, so it will give me something fairly mindless to occupy my evenings :big grin:

What did you think of the first semi-final last night...?

I thought it was good and agreed with the top 3. Apparently there is some kind of wild card scenario so The Mend may get brought back after all. Thought the street dancers were awful, I think the problem is Diversity have set such a high standard, will be difficult for any street dance act. The other singers were average. No idea why that rap guy about his keys and phone was even there?! Shame the violinist didn't make it, she was good.

I'm not sure I fully agreed with the top three - I liked The Mend and I have to say that against my better judgement I loved the dancing dog :big grin:

I don't think I would have put the choir through, though - they were good, but no better than dozens of other male voice choirs, and I'd have preferred either The Mend or Lauren Thalia myself....

Very sad that I only discovered Inspector Montalbano on the penultimate episode. Hoping they will repeat it.

They often do repeat stuff like that. I hope they repeat the Killing 2 as I missed the first 2 episodes so didn't bother with it.

I would have chosen Loveable Rogues, but the dog was just awesome, so a worthy winner.

All far too close to call this year - almost any of the finalists would have deserved to win!

Currently watching Celebrity Pointless on BBC1 - featuring none other than our favourite Andrew (Bouncy) Castle!

Only really watching in the hopes that he makes a twonk of himself :red devil:

Edit: excellent - he got 100 points for getting his first question wrong :)
Edit: out in the 2nd round - his daughter answered her questions well, he was rubbish :)

What's Celebrity Pointless?

Pointless is a BBC quiz show - a bit like a reverse Family Fortunes - 100 people are asked questions and the contestants have to try and find the most obscure correct answer they can - the best score is 0 (pointless) if no-one else got it right, and the worst score is 100 if everyone got it right, or your answer is wrong.

Errr...Celebrity Pointless is the same but with celebrity contestants - or Andrew Castle.
