if the injury has flared up again she isn't wise to risk it.

Good Emma got through in straights, though tbh her opponent gave a lot away.

certainly an impressive win for Emma over the 20th seed and Australian Open Semi Finalist, could not say I was expecting that!

Emma gets the first set 6-1 against Haddad Maia. Surely one of the best sets she has played since, well, we know what. ;)
PS I just hope that is she has a problem with her wrist it is properly diagnosed and dealt with.

Certainly was a high level from Emma to take the opening set, a bit of a dip now though as a more confident Haddad Maia goes up 3-0 in the 2nd.

And Haddad Maia takes the second 6-2 She is not ranked 13 for nothing...

After surviving early pressure in the decider Emma breaks and holds for 5-3, still to close it out though.
Well done Emma
Did Haddad-Maia blank the umpire at the end there?

That was a great win for Emma and the quality of the tennis from both players was really good, especially exciting in the third when they were both playing really excellent tennis.
Second biggest win of her career in terms of opponent's ranking.

A real battle in the closing stages but Emma wins on her 4th match point 6-4 in the 3rd, certainly a great win -well done!:clap:Likely to be Swiatek next mind you.

Well the world number 1 was too much for Emma and slightly ran away with it in the second.
However, was pleased that Emma kept it reasonably close in the first and often found ways to win points that showed her tennis prowess.
You have to win/defend a point against the world number 1 again and again and it must have been exhausting for Emma.
The good news is she can do this for points, and even games. Experience will enable her to do it for sets and matches and I really think this tournament was much more a glass full than glass empty one. She showed top 20 quality at times this week. Put simply, I felt she was "back". Hope the injuries hold off, because she showed that the ability is there, and now it needs to be mixed with experience and the tennis craft tour experience will provide! :)

Certainly positives for Emma moving forward, whilst pity the 2nd ran away from her a bit was under constant pressure. Need to keep in mind that she was a doubt for the tournament originally.
Looking tough for Emma in Miami, as Andreescu takes the first set 6-3.

Playing better in 2nd set
Much better! Serving for the second set at *5-3.
Andreescu constantly going over the serve timer but the umpire is doing nothing about it.
The Canadian wins 6-3 3-6 6-2.

Had a 0-40 early in the 2nd but unable to capitalise, unfortunately seemed to lose momentum subsrequently.
Missing the BJK Cup to concentrate on Stuttgart hasn't worked out, as Emma loses 6-2 6-1 to Ostapenko.

Most players would have lost to Ostapenko today the way she was blasting everything and constantly hitting the lines.
I wasn't expecting Emma to win.

Noticed the match was no longer on the order of play. Frustrating but hopefully not too serious. Would have been facing Swiatek had she won in any case.

Looks like a long term injury
Raducanu suffered discomfort in her right wrist against Andreescu and later said she must find a long-term solution.
The injury ended her 2022 season early and returned before Indian Wells this month,

Whilst will be frustrating to miss a number of events probably is for the best, wish Emma well in her recovery.
I, also, hope it works as well.

So worrying for her but no choice really. Praying for her healing.
She and Sebastian Sachs have parted company: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-12147745/Emma-Raducanu-cuts-ties-FIFTH-coach-two-years-historic-Open-victory.html

either Emma's injured or changing coach. Sometimes both.

The story continues. The agenda with the money she's making from sponsorship still pervades the story. Is she the only player to cash in on their name ? Of course not. Does it negatively affect her performance in court ? Who can say. Does the money affect her training ? I doubt it. Will we still be talking about her in the past tense in a year or so ? Let's hope not.

I suppose in the absence of any tennis from Emma, then the media will focus on either her off court activities and earnings, or the turnover of coaches.
