Wonder if many fans still to catch up but anyway thought Line of Duty was terrific and as probably expected some questions still to be resolved, have noticed mixed reviews from critics mind you. After first episode must admit was not sure it would be quite as good but certainly tension built up during run and was engrossed. I did not see the first few series originally but caught up later on like some others.

We're big LoD fans in our house. We were completely hooked after binge watching the first 3 series on Netflix. I thought this series dropped off bit after Corbett's exit but it's still the best darn thing on telly. The best bit had to be when Kate told the annoying AC3 officer to "stop making a *** of yourself and **** off". We all cheered

Must get the time to re-watch from the start. I loved the Lindsay Denton (Keeley Hawes) series the best

And they said that the episodes would be longer to balnce out the fact that it wasn't a 10 episode season.

Yes I get the episodes are longer but fewer but why? Much of the action is drawn out... even M said ok we get the point, move on, with all the dragon scenes. Yet the character stories feel rushed to a conclusion. Some have come out of nowhere like the Varys bit (trying not to include out and out spoilers) as though i's are being dotted and t's crossed hastily without proper reference to what's gone before.

I just finished watching Line of Duty as so many had raved about it. I seriously don't understand when all the fuss is about. There was some good acting by the someone in the last episode I thought (avoiding spoiler) but what a load of drivel of a storyline. It's probably just me.....

What have I not been watching? My favourite Line of Duty finished with a shock ending with the clever link to early series. Also enjoying The Durrells, Victoria, 15 Days and new series Virtues which started last night. The Looming Tower is another good series. The drama series lately on all channels have been excellent. Also binged watched Dead to Me on Netflix. I do watch a lot of TV but also read a lot also. TV and books keep me company. Not watched as much tennis but have watched some clay court tournaments. Lovely to see Andy's winning final yesterday when rain stopped play in Rome.

As usual, I just watched the Eurovision result, yesterday. No surprise about our entry coming last, as the BBC do seem to keep choosing the finalists (who want to represent us) as former X Factor singers. I believe the BBC did this last year as well. They really need to stop picking people from that series.

Our entrant this year Michael Rice won All Together Now, thought he would be near bottom anyway. The Netherlands was my favourite though. Lasted nearly 4 hours this time and reports that Madonna (who was not exactly on best form) was paid over a million dollars for her appearance.

Dublin Murders starts tonight (BBC 1 9pm), going to give it a watch. I thought The Capture built into a compelling and thought-provoking drama. Hugely disappointed, borderline outraged, with the Sanditon finale - no spoilers, suffice it to say Jane Austen would *never* have written that ending!

anyone watched Elizabeth is Missing, on BBC1 last night, an excellent drama starring Glenda Jackson, about an older lady suffering from dementia, who thinks her best friend has gone missing but no-one believes her. Funny and sad in equal measure, it captured perfectly how dementia affects different people, not just the sufferer.

Anyone watch Doctor Who?

Apparently female Doctor have worse rating on TV ever since started 2005 (modern Doctor Who).

I still watch it but it not brilliant like used be. No.1 best was David Tennant and 2nd was Chris and other Doctors was good and entertaining but below other 2. Matt was more like children friendly Doctor Who (nothing wrong with that) and nice have that for short while. I agree Speedy, I never thought anyone would beat Jon Pertwee and then along came David and now I only watch because it's Doctor who, but it feels as though Jodie is there until the Doctor comes back from his holidays or something! Yeah it doesn’t quite feel like Doctor Who. David and Chris and Matt too and even Peter Doctor in charge, Doctor in control, Doctor order people what do and Doctor usually confident etc and she isn’t that sort of Doctor. She more like part of team and listen everyone say and don’t really give orders etc. Hard to explain but this don’t feel like Doctor I am used to after many regeneration.

I watch it and it does, sometimes feel, it's turned into the Jodie Whittaker show as she practically does all the talking.

I watched Sunday night at the London Palladium, yesterday on Talking Pictures (Freeview 81). It was first broadcasted in November 1957 and it did seem to be dated. But, I found it interesting what was called entertainment back then to what is supposed to be entertainment now. They had two French men called Les Mercuines, then the Marigolds from the Dominican Republic (they sang in Spanish and English), then George Holmes who did some dancing and a smoking act and it finished off with Mario Lanza.

I watched another episode of Sunday night at the London Palladium last night. It seems loads of the episodes seem to be missing, as last Sunday the host was Hughie Green. Last night's episode was Tommy Trinder which was first seen in 1958. It started off with the Tiller Girls, then Pinky and Perky, then Marvin Rainwater, then Dick Shawn. Before Sarah Vaughan finished the episode, they had Beat the Clock. Dick Shawn's act reminded me of Robin Williams's act.

It was great to see the return of Knightfall on the Blaze channel (Freeview 63) last Sunday. It's so historically inaccurate, which makes for a good laugh on a Sunday evening. I really don't know why Mark Hamill had decided to be in this second series. In last Sunday's series, they had Tom Forbes (Prince Louis, the future Louis X of France) dig up his mother's body. Then, an autopsy was performed on her. Neither of these happened. Last night, they had Jim Carter (Pope Boniface VIII) get strangled. This never happened either, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Carter had had enough of being in this series.

I watched an episode from the 1974 series of Sunday night at the London Palladium on Talking Pictures (Freeview 81) last night. Ted Rogers was the compere and they had Allan Stewart, The New Dollys, Clodagh Rodgers and Mike and Bernie Winters on. I thought Allan was a better singer than being an impressionist. The New Dollys just did tricks on bicycles. There were four of them, one man and three women. The man looked like he could have been the women's father.

Reboot of Van der Valk on itv last night with Marc Warren in the title role. 2 hour programme with 4 minute ad break every 15 mins, not surprisingly, it didnt flow and felt very stilted. Plot a bit far fetched, and its only got 3 episodes to pull people in. Was hard work watching it, compared to Rowan Atkinson's 'Maigret' for example, which was very enjoyable.

Last Sunday was the first ever showing of a 1974 episode of Sunday Night at the London Palladium as, when it was supposed to have been shown, there was a bomb scare. Jim Dale was the host and had The Kuban Cossacks, Cliff Richard, Bob Monkhouse and Engelbert Humperdinck on. Both Cliff and Engelbert sang all of their famous songs and had bunches of flowers given to them. It seemed the series was in trouble by then, as Bob Monkhouse made a joke about it by pretending to be a vicar.

I have been watching 2 programme from Apple TV + (got it free). Defending Jacob. It suppose be based from book. So far it really good and interesting watch. Basically it about boy called Jacob been charge for murder another schoolboy. Jacob 14 year old. See how parents react and try defend Jacob and see how Jacob react and no idea if he guilty of murder so far.

Other one called Ghost Writer. It kids programme but I really like it. It about boy just move new city with his mum. Move to his grandfather house and bookstore. There ghost in bookstore (you can’t see ghost), it give messages for boy and new group friends solve. It all about books. Character from books come out real life and they find out how get them back in books again and ghost writer making characters come out books for clue kids try solve.

My Godmother's Aunt lived on the same street as Denis Nilsen. The smell in the drains went on for a long time before anyone did anything about it.

According to the tv drama, it was Nilsen who reported the problem and refused to pay his rent until the smell was dealt with ! The drama did raise the question over whether he was insane and therefore there was no premeditation, or whether he planned the killings. The drama didn't reallyanswer that, relying on the courtroom verdict for the answer Excellent performance by David Tenant as Nilsen, although the physical resemblance definitely helped.

Not sure if that was dramatic licence, however I could not see that mentioned in any reports. Brian Masters apparently felt Nilsen was "morally mad" Anyway thought it was a compelling drama. Enjoyed the new series of 'All creatures great and small' on C5. Why didn't one of the major channels pick it up ? I guess that if the BBC don't want it then the others would follow suit, but credit to C5 for showing it. Hopefully if they do another series, and it's not confirmed) then they can put it on at 9pm on Sunday's and it can run after Call the Midwife ! The emphasis of the story shifted slightly from the BBC series to include a stronger part for the Housekeeper, which worked quite well, as she was portrayed as the 'glue' that keeps the house together. Very enjoyable, especially as it came after the most recent 'Our Yorkshire Farm' about the Owen family and their farm in North Yorks.

A new star will be in it I guess.

Perhaps they could use the character that Alistair McKenzie played, he was an ex-copper who gave Cassie some assistance in series 3, and they became an item. He comes out of retirement to honour Cassie's memory.

Another great series of Unforgotten, though tinged with sadness. Some going over the top on social media in their dislike of ending mind you! It has been confirmed that Sanjeev Bhaskar will return with a new partner (think more likely to be another actress). https://www.entertainmentdaily.co.uk/tv/unforgotten-series-5-bookies-reveal-favourite-to-replace-nicola-walker/ Chris Lang is writing just now and another one of his shows ( in conjunction with Matt Arlidge) Innocent will be returning (with different characters) https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/innocent-series-2-air-date-plot-chris-lang-itv (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/innocent-series-2-air-date-plot-chris-lang-itv/) Meanwhile Nicola Walker is starring in a new Detective series Annika set in Scotland which shall air on Alibi at some point this year. https://corporate.uktv.co.uk/news/article/uktv-tv-adaptation-radio-4-drama-annika-alibi/ The Split will also be back for a final series https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/the-split-season-3-release-date/

Episode eight, and the last one, this evening of the first series of Dirty John which has been shown on 5Star (Freeview 31). It stars Connie Britton as Debra Newell who marries John Meehan (played by Eric Bana). Though it's based on a true story, I think both actors were extremely good in it especially Eric as the evil John. I always looked forward to watching the next episode and I hope 5Star will show the second series.

Enjoy Cazza. I'm envious that you've still got it to watch :)

At the moment I'm watching Time, the new Jimmy McGovern drama starring Stephen Graham and Sean Bean. The writing and acting is every bit as excellent as you'd expect but it's a gritty, tough and actually quite terrifying watch.

Virgin River on Netflix. Based on a series of books by Robyn Carr. Basic premise, A+E nurse from LA leaves her troubled life , moves to start a new life in upstate, backwater Californian town. The series tells the history of all the main characters, and weaves it into the episodes. I'm enjoying it, even though romantic dramas arent normally my thing. It helps that the lead characters are written sympathetically, and you want them to come out of it all ok. No big stars, although older readers might remember Tim Matheson, from West Wing, various films, and a series with Kurt Russell from the 70s called The Quest

I saw that when it was first out in the cinemas in 2019.
There were times when Renee really did morph into Judy - it was a stellar performance and she deserved the Oscar for it. It was based on a true part of Garlands' life and I thought they struggled to fill in the back bits of the story which let it down a tad. But for me it was an enjoyable birthday treat that year!!!

Such an impressive cast. i wasn't going to watch it, as I'm from the area and very much remember the events it is based on, and I was disappointed when reading the previews, as much of what actually happened had been changed. But watching the actual series, it's clear that the writer has used the events as a base and then modernised the story in a way to create a gripping series. Can't wait for the finale tonight, which i'll miss as I'm at a concert ! Thank god for i player

Watched the BBC online Storyville documentary about Arthur Ashe. It didn't exactly tell us anything new about his life, featured his upbringing, his decision to speak out rather than just let race issues pass him by, his tennis career and subsequent illness. His wife was interviewed and featured a lot, and the latter was also about how becoming 'Mrs Ashe' would mean losing her identity. Even though it was the 70's she was determined to be her own person, and I think that helped Arthur have a better outlook on life. They also interviewed his brother who was a member of the US Armed Forces.

it will be interesting to see how much of themselves the players give. Having watched the occasional 'Inside the tour' type programme that the two tours put out, some players are as focused and concentrated off court as they are on, so you only see very small glimpses of their true selves. Whereas others, generally those who've been on the tour longer or learned that they can still enjoy life on the road, do reveal more. Same as I've had the privilege of working at big events and being close to the players, staff etc. seeing how they all interact.

They give limited amount cash, no credit/debit card allowed, no mobile or internet allowed. They must able reach each check point on time, if failed then they out of race. They also have to earn money or earn place to stay and eat during race cos limited budget won't be enough cover whole race. Money for transport, place to stay, food, clothing if need it, etc.
