Ask me again a week on Friday.
Any happier with the appointment yet?
I'm not happy about being right to have... qualms.
I'm not happy about being right to have... qualms.
Were you there?
And today confirmed that he just doesn't have it.
And today confirmed that he just doesn't have it.
Don't put yourselves down. Partick managed a draw against one of the top teams in the Premiership last weekend.
And Levein is still greet in' about it. We are now twice as far behind County as when Laszlo was sacked, and the football is brutal.
Were you at Hampden tonight? Only saw bits but looks like nothing much has changed.
Was just thinking how ironic that our three best players (Robertson, the injured Tierney and adding Fraser) are all left-sided when Robertson fired the opener. Robertson wasn't as influential with Fraser playing as wide.
Gave up going to see the national team when they started pulling match days out of a lucky bag.
Wasn't impressed with Fraser, no end product.

Remind me who put the ball on Burke's head for the winner?
One swallow does not a summer make.
Meet the women's team, same as the men's team...
Despite maybe lacking a yard of pace, I was surprised no Premiership teams took a chance on Shankland. If he stays fit, he could make all the difference to your chances of promotion.
It's baffling, really. Pace is perhaps the only thing missing from his game.
I'm one of the people for whom today's performance was slightly galling given the tame way we exited the League Cup.
£25m for Tierney, what would the likes of McGrain, Kidd, Nicol or Malpas have been worth nowadays?
I don't want to see the laddie fail, but he's no Andy Robertson either.
I don't want to see the laddie fail, but he's no Andy Robertson either.
I'd say he's not far away from the level Robertson was at when Liverpool paid £8m to Hull two years ago, but he has developed hugely since then.
TV money just makes transfer fee inflation ridiculous.
And Levein is still greet in' about it. We are now twice as far behind County as when Laszlo was sacked, and the football is brutal.
I assume you're happy with the result, but is the football any less brutal?
A half decent side would have had double figures against that mob.

Nothing like a glass half full kind of person!
I assume that today's events came as no surprise Ally?

Apologies for not noticing this earlier. No, it certainly didn't. Just a pity Budge stayed loyal for so long. Not 100% sold on any of the suggestions so far though. Neilson back lol? I thought Locke did a good job all things considered the season we were in admin but he doesn't even merit a mention.
I came on to ask you if Ogren specifically requested Friday night fixtures? You seem to get more than your fair share.
I think that’s only our fourth Friday game, the 2 derbies on BT Sport and 2 on BBC Scotland. Some teams have had more.

Maybe I just notice them more if it's you (biggest fish down there) or Ayr (local team of my youth).
We are indeed the big fish, the reason we aren’t already out of sight is that we’ve failed to cope when the likes of Alloa and QotS have raised their game against us only to go back to their usual mediocrity the following week. It’s the way we’ve coped with ICT, Dundee, Plastic Whistle and Dunfermline this time around that looks like making the difference.

So, 5 weeks on Hearts go public that they've offered the job to someone. 36 hours on he's hardly rushing to accept.
Is it too late to bring back Vlad?
Alan Preston claiming on Sportsound tonight that everything was agreed, but Barnsley have complicated things by asking for compensation.
I hope you're not getting your hopes built up too much for a couple of trips to Tynecastle next season!
Still hoping that Hamilton's luck will finally run out.
We'll Hawkeye, how do you think (realistically) all this is going to end up?
Hearts & Thistle will make money from being relegated rather than lose money.
From what I've read, Dundee's email in the initial vote is very likely to be deemed sent, taking the whole debacle back to square one. Why are so many clubs still against reconstruction? 14-10-10-10 would hardly punish anyone.
Because of Hearts' insistence on making any reconstruction temporary, making it the self-serving exercise that everyone knows it is rather than some desire for the greater good of the game.
The self-serving exercise that any other club in the same position would have tried to go through? I was led to believe that they had been advised that temporary would be more likely to succeed. A bigger top league is something that should have been done years ago if it's wasn't for the fact that teams like extra OF visits.
Do you really think it is fair to demote any team after only part of a season, regardless of the extremely unusual circumstances?
The little sympathy I had disappeared after all of the talk of "nobody should be punished due to the pandemic" becoming "the democratically declared league winners shouldn't be promoted", which doesn't sound fair either, no?
Hearts preferred move has always been reconstruction rather than no promotion but if they can preserve their place in the top league, I'm sure they won't mind either way how the league deal with promotion or not.
As I said before the legal view regarding Dundee's vote may well decide that the original decision wasn't as democratic as it appeared.
Odd to see a rat joining a sinking ship. Good riddance.
Not sure whether I'm happy about the appointment at all, regardless of the bizarre timing.
Looking forward to the next plane over Tynecastle.
???
Bizarrely if our relegation gets overturned then Stendel will still be under contract I believe. I think we are more likely to get compensation though, unless the cost of that forces the SPFL to look again at reconstruction.

I realised afterwards.
Trying to watch Merseyside derby on Sky1, 1998 cupmfonal on BBC Scotland and keep up with Kickback
The Liverpool derby has been garbage, watching it on Freeview.

You had time to think who you'd like for a replacement? Tommy Wright?
There's hardly been a decent game yet in EPL. Liverpool missing Robertson big time and TAA not at full speed either
I'm not one for speculation. There's a lot of support for Wright but whilst he's probably an improvement tactically, I'm not convinced his side would be any better to watch.
At least Pressley has ruled himself out for you lol, although Levein sounds keen for another chance!!!
Yet to see us linked with a name that appeals.
I have now though, Jens Lehmann.
Regardless of what happens on Wednesday or thereafter, I'm glad my jacket isn't hanging on Doncaster's peg - it gets more shoogly every time he opens his mouth or sends an email!
Didn't mean to be confrontational the other night, I do believe reconstruction either permanent or temporary would be the fairest outcome. But if relegation is reversed then it's up to the SPFL whether they go for that or attempt to compensate the three teams.
Malky McKay, the sexist, racist homophobe, looking certain to be our new manager. Hmm.

I think he was suggested for us a while back. Good coach but way too much baggage. Can't recall him ever apologizing properly.
Not sure what I think about McLaren. He's always struck me as someone that talks the talk better than he walks the walk. Been unfortunate to be made a scapegoat at times but at the same time he's never really set the heather on fire.
Can't see anyone outwith the OF being able to justify the wages he'll be looking for either.
So, it's...
1471
I of course wish him arabest.
New manager more important than promotion possibly being reversed?

Wonder what he's thinking now?
Still can't understand why DU, RR and CR got so involved so quickly. They had to be named in our original petition as they could be consequentially affected by the outcome but there wasn't really a charge for them to defend. Why not sit back and see how we got on then take out their own separate court case if an unhappy outcome?
As I understand it they are now involved in the arbitration process after which there is no right of appeal. Personally I think some level of compensation is as good as we'll get but nobody really knows. The 3 clubs (probably guided by Doncaster) may well have shot themselves in the foot by taking things so far so soon.
And yes, I am aware that most of my "insight" comes from a biased platform and may not be interpreted correctly.
Agree with most of this, despite its source.

Would you have been happy to sit back and accept your fate if the roles had been reversed?
Like most of the rest of the world has done, I would have moaned about it and then gotten on with it.
Like Belgium for example?
Hence "most of the rest of the world".
According to various Twitter feeds we will know the arbitration results tomorrow.
Oh well. Disappointed but not surprised. Stitched up again. More so Partick than us.
It was telling that the decision was unanimous IMO.
Hearts first championship match obviously drawn by the same "random" fixture generator that drew the OF game for round 11 in the premiership lol.
Hearts get 2 home games against most of the main contenders from what I saw. Effect will be lessened if there are no fans in though.

Maybe not quite up there with Stein, Shankley, Busby or Ferguson but certainly wasn't far behind. Used to enjoy watching United any time they were on the telly in those days.

No pressure. I only got 7 but I'm annoyed about 2 I didn't get lol.
It's easy with the clues for any United fan of that vintage.
I thought it would be. I can't remember Stark and always forget Milne. Can't believe I didn't get Kirkwood or Dodds.

Strange no comments on here about the European Super League?
No matter.
FWIW it's worth I've just read a tweet by that scumbag Gerard Piquet.
It's copied below together with my reply. (and that of Judy Murray)
Some of you may be offended by my views; I retain the right to hold them.

Football belongs to the fans. Today more than ever.

Tennis belongs to the fans too. You have destroyed the Davis Cup, it's ethos and sporting legacy. You and that pillock David Haggerty changed it simply out of GREED. NOT ENOUGH PLAYERS supported the FANS in their condemnation of your acts. You will fail.@JudyMurray (https://twitter.com/JudyMurray)
I will never repent my personal views over this destruction of the greatest, and most longstanding, team sport in the world. It is unique in that regard and very, very special.
BUT I'll always organise tickets, for those who wish to continue supporting GB.
Even if they want to go to the event staged over 3 cities, in 12 days, costing them a lot more money and ultimately, for those few that can afford it, without their fellow AMFF friends and GBR supporters.
It is that which saddens me the most.
No one is more shocked than me about what is happining in Aberdeen this afternoon!

I didn’t comment here but I ranted a lot everywhere else! Mostly with GPs name, money and fans all included
I know who I will be supporting in tonight's Euro semi-final ;)

Just seen this. I'm not on social media, thank you for giving it GP with both barrels on behalf of fans. "Football belongs to the fans" - a raging hypocrite as well as everything else then. Well said Sally :thanks: and :bravo:

I infer from this that you are happy that England lost yesterday? Is that correct? And you are a so-called "super moderator" of this website? Hmmmmm.
Please enlighten me as to why that might be a problem? I'm not English, for starters.

Well it's a problem for me coz I am English, as are several others on here. Have SOME sensitivity. Please. I know if it was Scotland who'd lost in the final I certainly would not be smiling or grinning about it, I'd be equally devastated. I'm not saying YOU should be personally but I don't think it's suitable for you, a moderator as well, to put grinning faces on here, a public forum - for the reason I mentioned above.
It could have been a diatribe about the "British" national media and England's so-called supporters showing their true colours, but I went with a more sensitive option.

More sensitive option? Wow! Insensitive is still insensitive. Not ALL England's supporters are morons. Most of us are regular people who are very sad our team lost. I'm dismayed that you cannot see past all that.
Here's what I think about England's loss after such a great tournament. :crying::crying::crying:

David Beckham:
"Such a privilege to be there to watch our team fight like true lions this whole tournament. Heartbreaking result last night but lets remember what really matters. The best result for a men's England team in more than 50 years. A team that has shown courage, resilience and passion for our country at a time when we needed it so much. A team of young men who are inspiring so much positive change off the pitch as well as being exciting players for fans to watch. A brilliant manager who leads with values and integrity. They all deserve nothing but thanks and RESPECT . To Gareth and the boys…I know how much this will hurt but you have the pride and thanks of your country for what you have achieved and you have done it the right way. Anyone who doesn’t support and RESPECT each and every one of you today isn’t an England fan. Win or lose we stand with you .. Hold those heads high.."

Super happy for Team Canada to win GOLD in the women's footie! Doesn't entirely make up for England's loss at EuroCup's but it does help. :gold:
And I missed it...
Won't be allowed back etc. etc.
Shankland a big loss? Or was the Championship closer to his true level? Have you got a ready made replacement? Or do you need to spend the money?
I think it's a massive mistake, although given our dire finances I think we had to cash in, not that I expect the head coach will get to spend any of it. I'd have waited until January though. Yes, we would get less for him, but his goals may well have helped our survival efforts by then.
No, we don't have a ready made replacement. Instead, we gave extensions to duds like Pawlett and Clark, and are looking at bringing back McNulty who I simply don't rate. Apart from that though, I expect both cups and Europe...

Imagine being able to play without being stopped every 30 seconds
even the pitch wouldn't be allowed now!

Fact of life for all in Scottish football unfortunately, ugly sisters included to some extent, and can't see it changing any time soon.
Hope Hearts get Souttar tied up long term soon so we can get a decent return for him if/when he manages to stay injury free for a decent length of time.
Good to see United helping the wee team find their true level.
Hearts turn is coming soon!

Didn't realise I hadn't replied to this post ....
Sad to see Courts go? Doesn't seem much of a step up - all down to money?
I won't shed any tears at all. I don't pretend to know what's going on behind the scenes but some of the football I watched this year was easily as bad as anything under Mellon.

Absolutely Caro! Much better game, less chucking themselves onto the ground! I am very late to the ladies game but have enjoyed watching this year.
Hibees rule! what a result, equalise in 5th minute of extra time.
Jim Goodwin? Why would anyone think he can get more out of your disjointed squad than he managed to get out of Aberdeen's?
We all went from being ecstatic on Tuesday night back to resigned to relegation last night. Was never convinced that Levein was the answer, but if it's true that only being offered a deal to.the end of the season was what put him off, then he plainly didn't have much confidence in his ability to keep us up.
