Dan Evans into main draw in Indian Wells after thrashing Noah Rubin 6-1, 6-1. He plays Stan Wawrinka. Last time that happened, at the US Open 2016, Evans had match point. Wawrinka ended up winning the title.

When I found out Dan was playing Stan, that match was the first thing that came into my head! If Dan sustains his present form, you never know even though Stan has been getting better. Surbiton Challenger SF: A twist in the tale - Dan tells us after the match that when he slipped and sat down, he was going to retire, then Copil started telling the crowd he was being a drama queen so he decided to carry on and beat him instead! Oops ... :-)
