Everyone needs to remember how far Dan has progressed in the last year. At the start of 2016 Dan lost in the first round of Happy Valley challenger to a guy ranked #500 and was ranked #176. This year he reached his first ATP Semi AND Final and will have a NCH of 51 tomorrow. Well done Dan, we are all proud of you!

Obviously disappointing Dan couldn't quite stay with Muller in the end but still a great run and hopefully this tournament will have shown him he can progress much further than he would have envisaged not so long ago. On a good day can certainly compete with some of the top players, definitely come a long way lately! Dan faces Facundo Bagnis at 6.30am tomorrow, live on Eurosport player (all games are available live), for those of you who don't know much about Bagnis, apart from him being world #55, I can tell you the following: in 2016 he won 6 challenger finals, all in South America, he played nearly all his matches on clay last year, in fact the only ones he played not on clay were 1 on grass(Wimbledon) and 1 on hard court(Flushing Meadow).
Obviously the large prize money attracts him to the Slams. I see Dan as a firm favourite for this tie, cmon Dan

I managed to watch most of Dan's match after Andy's and before I had to go out this morning... First set was a bit up and down, though Dan made a great recovery in the TB after being 2 or 3 set points down. (Brain beginning to get fuzzy...tired now!!!) But Dan took the next 2 sets by the scruff of the neck and showed some good form. Won well in the end. I was thinking it must have been hard to get himself fired up after playing the final in Sydney on Saturday, then travel to Melbourne and finally re-adjust to a new court...all this in about 24 hours. Big ask! Also, and this is totally irrelevant and unimportant, but Dan didn't seem to be wearing his usual Nike gear...it appeared unbranded to me. I wondered did some of his luggage go AWOL on the trip down to Melbourne? Just curious!

Dan was 3 sps down at 3-6 in tb, first 2 on opp serve, Dan played more aggressively for them, but was a bit up and down in that first set. AS you say he had 5 days playing in Sydney and only day off he was travelling. Then he was put on the small court where people were walking past and no hawkeye, which i bet that really pleased him (not!). Still looks like he got away with a few choice words again.
