Break hold. Job done. Please!!!!! C'mon Jo!
JAMES4578
05-07-2017, 14:34
Vekic also has easy hold for 4 all and is so far holding up, come on Jo!
I am feeling the same stress over this one, I used to have about a Heather W, before the new "I don't want to go home yet" Heather appeared.
This is certainly turning into a very long match for grass. Maybe it is giving Andy longer to rest his hip ;)
david1610
05-07-2017, 14:39
Jo holds and so one break will do it. Bit more stress on Vekic. C'mon Jo! :)
The winner plays Sakkari.

05-07-2017, 15:24
That could well be the best women's match at this year's Wimbledon. Was nervous as Jo's first serve was going long in the third set but so so so relieved! Let's see the recovery but that might mean a very deep run after coming through a tussle like that! Well done Jo! :)
well done Johanna, she closes it out 10-8, 3hrs 10
That was the best women's match I've seen in a while. Tense and intense. Tennis was amazing. Serving was amazing. And best of all, played in a lovely sporting spirit. Well well done Johanna! Be proud! :phew::clap::clap::clap:
And now to do it all over again!! What a day!

Brilliant match best I've seen in long time of a woman's 2nd round! Shame Donna had to lose both brilliant serving and just fantastic.
GREAT from Johanna , so impressed with her !!!!
Well done Jo, hard fought win!
The winner plays Caroline Garcia, which should be Jo.
Oh, so little time to breathe before the next Brit is on!
Go Jo! :GBflag:

JAMES4578
07-07-2017, 16:21
Relatively close first set but Jo was by far the stronger in the 2nd and after the marathon good to get a convincing win, well done!:clap::clap:
Well done Johanna.
Good luck Jo!
Sadly I will miss this, but hope to be home in time to see at least some of Andy's match.
:GBflag::GBflag:
Very best of luck Johanna. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
Jo and Caroline now warming up.
Three break points for Jo.
Break point for Caroline.
Two break points for Caroline.
Third break point for Caroline.
RosieBear
10-07-2017, 12:51
How on earth are they not replaying that point????
Caroline challenges the "out" ball, but the ball was in. Now, 5 - 5.
RosieBear
10-07-2017, 12:52
Jo's protests going unheard. 5-5
Double fault for Caroline.
Josephine
10-07-2017, 12:59
How on earth are they not replaying that point????
Does seem clear on the replay that she hit the ball before she challenged and before the out call.

Excellent, well done Jo. And isn't great when players think the no coaching rule applies to everyone else but them. We saw you Caroline's dad :grrr::grrr:
Break point for Caroline.
Another break point for Caroline.
Is Caroline's dad secretly coaching her?
Rosalind
10-07-2017, 13:32
Is Caroline's dad secretly coaching her?
looks a bit like it.
RosieBear
10-07-2017, 13:38
Is Caroline's dad secretly coaching her?
Definitely. And not so secretly. Has been caught on camera several times. Hope the umpire catches him and give a warning!
Three set points for Caroline.
Caroline wins the second set 6 - 4.
Louis Paul Garcia finally gets a warning for coaching Caroline.
Russell Fuller claims Jo will become the first British woman, in 33 years, to get to the quarters (if she wins).
:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: Well done Johanna
Well Done Johanna!!!!....:clap::clap:

JAMES4578
10-07-2017, 14:32
Tough match but Jo held strong to see off Garcia, well done! Just a pity deficit in 2nd was a bit tough to overcome but got it done in the end and great she managed to break at 5-4-looks like being Halep in the quarters.:cheer::cheer::cheer:
She plays Halep tomorrow.
Fab win by Jo!!!
:cheer::cheer:
Hope to see some highlights later on!
Really really great win for Johanna. Felt a bit guilty leaving her match when Andy's started, but in a conflict of interest, Andy wins every time! And I knew I could see the end of it later. So happy for her. Will be able to watch all of her match tomorrow as there should be no conflict of interest!:clap::clap:

Was watching Andy on TV and Jo on my tablet. Superb play once again. How comes the ladies dont get a day off? Does not seem fair really.

Winner to play Venus in semi (who seems to have come into impressive form),Halep holds first game-come on Johanna!
Two break points for Halep.

11-07-2017, 15:20
Not the best start.
JAMES4578
11-07-2017, 15:23
Not the best of starts though Halep putting her under pressure-come on Jo!

11-07-2017, 15:25
BP for jo, c'mon
C'mon, Jo - hold then break.
JAMES4578
11-07-2017, 15:30
Disappointing Jo couldn't take the bp, though Halep serving pretty well.
david1610
11-07-2017, 15:32
Phew! Important to get on the scoreboard! 1-3 Jo perhaps trying too hard on some points. Perhaps the difference up to now. Settle down! C'mon Jo!
Halep saves another break point.
Three break points for Jo.
david1610
11-07-2017, 15:40
Much better by Jo - she did not give her opponent time to settle.
Now when returning just stay patient - set up the winner - don't go for it immediately - and don't go for the lines - keep a margin of error for your nerves. C'mon Jo!
lovetennis
11-07-2017, 15:40
Yessss, back on serve
JAMES4578
11-07-2017, 15:56
Johanna certainly battling well from behind,Halep holds for 6-5 though- come on!
traveller7
11-07-2017, 15:59
tiebreak time
forgot halep is a grunter which is louder due to roof closure
david1610
11-07-2017, 16:09
Well. Halep was very very tough in the last few points. Signs that Jo can do this - it is going to come down to a few shots here or there. Jo needs to work out what is working and what is not... I even though of cricket and spinners bowling into the foot marks let by bowlers at the other end - Halep is hitting it often into that part of the court in the middle near the baseline which is very scuffed and Jo is often getting a bad bounce.
She must not panic and go for overambitious winners. Move her, move her, move her. C'mon Jo!
JAMES4578
11-07-2017, 16:10
A few unfortunate errors from Jo and Halep took her chances, hopefully Konta can keep fighting!
JAMES4578
11-07-2017, 16:17
Chance at 15-40 but Jo unable to capitalise, keep going!
traveller7
11-07-2017, 16:26
Jo is pushing forehands long she would normally get in come on Jo!
david1610
11-07-2017, 16:28
Mmm... reminds me of the dreaded "40-0" problem Andy sometimes has. She has nearly let two 40-0 leads on her service go to waste. Phew! C'mon Jo!
JAMES4578
11-07-2017, 16:29
Became tight game form 40-0 however Jo keeps in front, come on!
roytennisfan
11-07-2017, 16:32
Cmon Jo keep going 3-3 tight
david1610
11-07-2017, 16:35

C-mon Johanna Konta.
You know you wanta!
david1610
11-07-2017, 16:39
Aargh ... how many 15-40s has she tamely given away with nervous long returns??? Aargh! C'mon Jo!!!
roytennisfan
11-07-2017, 16:40
Jo needs to win more of the big points
RosieBear
11-07-2017, 16:42
Oh Jo, she really hasn't played the important points well. Time running out but hope she gets more chances and finally takes one! Simona is hustling, rushing Jo - keep calm and play your service games at your pace Jo.
JAMES4578
11-07-2017, 16:44
Certainly got to make Halep play on the bps, really needs to find a bit extra now at this point in set. Would rather avoid another TB, Jo holds for 5-4!
david1610
11-07-2017, 16:44
C'mon Jo!
Btw Halep ranked 2 is 115 points behind Kerber. I do not know the women's GS round points - will she get to number 1 with this win or has she already?
Jo 1/7 break points taken Halep 1/1.
If you get a break point(s), take it (the first one!) please!!!!! C'mon Jo!
traveller7
11-07-2017, 16:44

11-07-2017, 16:45
C'mon Jo - BREAK - you CAN do it - BELIEVE!!!!
david1610
11-07-2017, 16:47
Certainly got to make Halep play on the bps, really needs to find a bit extra now at this point in set. Would rather avoid another TB, Jo holds for 5-4!
Completely agree!
Maybe she needs to have it 40-15 not 15-40?
WimbledonWestie
11-07-2017, 16:49
If Haley wins this she is no 1, if not Pliskova is.
david1610
11-07-2017, 16:52
That ball the wrong side of the line is a good example of trying to go for too much a metre to the right would have been enough.
Never mind. C'mon Jo!
JAMES4578
11-07-2017, 16:52
Jo just faltering on most of the big points, needs to step up-come on!
RosieBear
11-07-2017, 16:54
This time Jo!!!
roytennisfan
11-07-2017, 16:54
Cmon jo ...break
RosieBear
11-07-2017, 16:56
Hold firm everyone, and keep believing, it only takes one break - just ask Gilles Muller the epitome of perseverance. This time Jo!
david1610
11-07-2017, 16:56
The good news is that she is perfectly capable of beating the best player(s) in the world.
The bad news are the nerves as she is only playing her third GS QF and first here.
If she can get and take a break point and the set, and relax a little.... C'mon Jo!
roytennisfan
11-07-2017, 16:56
Hope I'm wrong but can't see Jo winning a tiebreak the way she has been losing the big points
RosieBear
11-07-2017, 16:57
Keep fighting Jo, you can do this.
JAMES4578
11-07-2017, 16:57
Well no chance of a break there,Jo must play well in the TB to stay in contention.
traveller7
11-07-2017, 16:58

11-07-2017, 16:59

roytennisfan
11-07-2017, 16:59

roytennisfan
11-07-2017, 17:01
