Disappointing and thought the Tsonga win would have given Kyle a boost, though opponent had found some inspiration this week. Think there probably are still lingering health issues, tactics not always the best though.
Sad, but not really surprising. Kyle has form for bottling it. I am starting to think he is happy, just turning up and winning a few rounds, then taking the money and heading home.
He never really seems to fight for it?
Personally I think there are still viral/health issues relating to last year. He's not my favourite to watch BUT I don't honestly think he's a 'bottler', he works SO hard off-court. Maybe he needs more help to vary his game to win those vital missing points and/or ensure any lingering viral stuff is properly dealt with?
I have to agree with Sally here. Not my favourite to watch either but he does work incredibly hard and I think he maybe wants it too much rather than not enough, ?training too hard at times. A bit like Andy has admitted he did early in his career.
Kyle does lose matches we would expect him to win I agree but maybe he is just trying too hard at times on and off the court.

Don't agree that Kyle's a bottler - he made a slam semi at the start of last year following a very impressive run in Brisbane and Melbourne, full of composed performances. It's just a shame he then became very unlucky with health issues than made him lose momentum and confidence. I'm hopeful that in time he can regain both, especially as he seems to have found a great regime at Leyton Hewitt's academy. I wish him well.

Kyle and Medvedev warming up. Hope I can stay awake for this, but if not, maybe I'll waken up to see Andy.

He is still in the doubles!
With these losses, it does mean I have loads more time for household chores, sunbathing, watching other players to get my Prime value for money. The world's my oyster! It's rush rush rush when they are still in at the end of tournaments!!!:crying:
Kyle lost in straight sets to the much higher ranked Mendelev. The only Brits left in are called Murray (plus Salisbury).

Kyle is on the Entry list for the ATP 500 in Beijing.
While we are waiting for Andy, Kyle is a set up against Pablo Andujar in NYC. They are at the business end of the second set.

Sallydaisy
27-08-2019, 19:19
And held for 3-2, good lad.
Lost the 3rd Set. If he is to win this he will have to do it in 5 sets. Not optimistic myself.

Kyle - I despair. :(

Kyle let it slip somewhat, though hopefuly can find a way.
1 set shootout for Kyle. 2 sets all.
Kyle breaks to take the fourth set 7-5.
It's another 5-setter. Please can the Brit win this one?
Sallydaisy

Well done Kyle! Really needs a couple of good holds of serve to keep on track and reduce Andujar confidence.

Kyle breaks for 2-0 in the 5th set.
Watching livescores for Kyle's match is very :nailbiter:
Sallydaisy

Andujar took the next 2 games for 2-2. Kyle serving and Andujar has had 3 Ad chances to break in this game, Kyle defending well.
Sallydaisy
27-08-2019, 21:13
Kyle has Ad, back to deuce. Key game methinks.
Ad again to Pablo... and he breaks Kyle to lead 3-2.
Sallydaisy

Andujar serving for the match at 5-2
Is Kyle inured, or is this another example of him snatching defeat from the jaws of victory?
Sallydaisy
27-08-2019, 21:26
Kyle loses, Pablo took the 5th set 6-2.
I find him frustrating because you can almost predict the outcome before the match has started. It’s a shame.
JAMES4578
27-08-2019, 21:50
Disappointing particularly as Kyle looked to have the advantage after winning 4th and going up abreak in the 5th . However Andujar was tenaious and that long 12 minute game at 2 all proved decisive. He ha sbeen injury proved and commemtators specualating may have been physical issues though confidence lacking in the crucial stages.

Another disappointing performance by Kyle. Also what has happened to Tsitsipas and Thiem? Surprised to see RBA beaten as well
Kyle our in straight sets in Chengdu to Garin ranked 1 place below him. I imagine his knee is still playing up.
I would suspect Kyle's loss was more due to the play of Garin, who has been doing remarkably well recently. And also the fact Kyle has split from coach Mark Hilton may have had some input in the outcome of the match. Colin Beecher is travelling with and helping both Dan and Kyle at the moment. Useful that they are both playing at the same venue this week!
With Mark Hilton now gone, who would you like to see replace him, a normal coach or a super coach? I would like to see someone that has worked with the top players maybe someone like Sven Groenveld or Arnaud Clement. If he went for a super coach then I'd like to see it being Goran Ivanisevic :).

13-10-2019, 14:42
Somewhat frustrating, looked like Kyle may have got the edge after winning 2nd and breakng early in the 3rd but could not sustain it.
I find this really sad
He really needs to get some help mentally as his self belief must be so low.
Kyle is in Vienna this week and playing Berrettini at the moment. Score - one set all!! (6-3, 3-6). Hopefully he can win this one.:thumbup:
Kyle played very well in the first set but Berrettini just upped his game in the second.
But is now 2 points from defeat
Edit - Kyle has lost, sadly.
Alas, Kyle loses the third set 4 - 6 :crying: I'm beginning to feel quite sorry for him
Berrettini gets the win, just a stronger player than Kyle.I have to admit I'm not a lover of Kyle's tennis but I do feel quite sorry for him, Kyle, is going to have to do some thinking!!
JAMES4578
21-10-2019, 16:47
Did not see the match but losing narrowingly to Berrettini looks like one of Kyle's better performances lately. However obviously disappointing the run of losses continue, needs clear plan for moving forward.
I hope by next year Kyle has a plan in place, including a good coach, fitness and sports psychologist. 8 losses in a row is a monkey on his back that has to be dealt with before he can move on. Watched the match yesterday and his game is still there, but only at times. Almost undisciplined. I really wish he well and hope he can turn this around somehow. He's talented and still young. Almost an irony the he won Antwerp 2018 and this year Andy unexpectedly roars back to take it!
I do wonder with Kyle, if part of the problem is he began to believe the hype. Perhaps he couldn't cope with pressure and expectations associated with it. Dan has a much more realistic take on it.

He looks fed up and forlorn even when he's winning. Coach likewise. He had something but it's not there right now that's for sure.
Kyle, playing Berankis in Paris, takes the first set 6 - 4. Well done.
Playing well - first set and 5-0 but then loses the next 2. PLEASE Kyle don’t lose this one!
Kyle gets the win....6-4, 6-3 ….well done :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Looks like Some nerves at the finishing line but thankfully Kyle had big lead, got there in the end- well done!:cheer::cheer::cheer:
First set to Kyle against Schwartzman 7 - 5.....well done :cheer:
I'm really enjoying watching Kyle this evening. He's playing with so much more conviction and consistency. He's taken the first set off Diego. Still a way to go but if he can maintain this form, he has a great chance.
Kyle wins....7-5, 6-3....very well done:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:
Well I never, WHAT A SOLID WIN for Kyle, you could actually see him thinking....Great result, Well Done Kyle!!!:clap:
PS Plus he showed passion for the game!!!

Certainly impressive from Kyle, well done!:clap::clap: Whilst very tough with Djokovic after a good win hopefully less pressure.
Kyle holding his own nicely against Djokovic - 4-4 at the moment. Good luck, Kyle:thumbup:
Djokovic gets the first set...… 9 - 7 in the tb :crying: What a battle!!
He may have lost that TB, but I have to say, best TB I've seen Kyle play in a while. Keep it up Kyle...you never know!

That's good to hear!
Sadly, Kyle lost the match, but I feel that things are looking up for him.
Djokovic upped his level in set 2, hard for Kyle to live with. But certainly in set 1, Kyle gave a very good account of himself. Been a much better week for Kyle. Upwards and onwards in 2020 Kyle!!
Totally agree with you both Pat & Jane!!!....Good week all round for Kyle I think, he just has to keep it going!!!
Haven't been able to watch Kyle this week. Glad to hear he seems to be heading in the right direction. :)
From 5-2 up in the first set when play was suspended yesterday, Kyle loses in straights in the first round at the AO.
Wasn’t one whit surprised. Normal for Kyle.
