Well done Kyle! Good win over very experienced opponent in just over an hour.
A good win for Kyle and now plays Bautista Agut in the second round. The winner of that match plays Andy (hopefully) in the quarters.

Good win for Kyle today; it will be interesting to see how he does against Andy on Friday.
Andy will need to find his 1st serve before Friday or it could be a close call. Interesting info from Peter Fleming re jet lag - one day needed for recovery for each hour of time difference; so Andy, who seems to suffer more than most in that department, may not be at his best until the weekend.:sleepy: ;)

What a shame Kyle has to play Andy. Don't like it when our players have to play each other. Still at least I should get to see him play!
im completely the opposite these battle of Britain encounters have been too few over the last decade its always nice to stick it to the auld enemy and of course after its done we can all go back to supporting them against the rest of the world

According to those who can crunch the numbers, Kyle is guaranteed to be top-50 next week :shades:
He already was before his last win! In the atp race he is more than 100 points above the 51st spot, currently 47th and 83 in front of Dan who is currently 48th
That's the race - now he will be top 50 in the rankings as well.
Great play from Kyle today even if not as good in the later part of the second set. He is down to play quailes in Shanghai next.

Tough draw to get Stan in the second round, as much as I hope Kyle can find a way through that one in not convinced. He has had a long few weeks, but every extra round is more points, so I'll cross my fingers

Kyle is now showing as 44 in the live rankings and 40 in the ATP Race. However, unless he beats Stan ,he is going to drop some places as OTHER people WILL pick up points
BTW Kyle is confirmed at 48 in today's official rankings and 46T in the race
A really enjoyable match today, was good that Kyle got over the line, at 0-30 in last game I was thinking of how Kyle dropped his serve in Belgrade when serving for the match but Kyle did wonderfully well to win the next 4 points.
Great win for Kyle. I missed the 1st set and when one poorish game lost him the 2nd I feared that he would run out of steam. However he played so well in the 3rd to protect his early break and thoroughly deserved the win. He has more than justified his entry here so next round is a bonus whatever the score v Stan.
A good win for Kyle today. Every win is more points and part of his journey. I hope that he is able to win his match against Stan, sometimes Stan can have a bad or low focused day. I think there is a chance for Kyle, even if it's not a big one. If it doesn't work out and he heads home, he has played really well the last few weeks, he has done himself proud. I hope that he sees this. Well done Kyle :) :)

Pleased that Kyle won today. Watched last two sets in bed. Good luck against Stan, would just love it if he defeated him.
Very impressive win from Kyle. Even more so given this was his eighth match in ten days, a real test of his stamina.

Tough one Kyle, Stan too good for him today
I woke up to find Kyle had lost. It was always going to be a tough one for him.
I missed the first set, but Kyle made a good effort in the second. Unfortunately, Stan was too good today.
Not an unexpected result, given Kyle's efforts over the last 2 weeks, so well done lad. At a quick glance it looks like his rankings of 48 and 43 in the Race will be safe for this week anyway.
No surprise there - and no shame in losing to Stan. Great run for Kyle recently and his ranking is reflecting that!
Having had to go through qualies for two back-to-back Masters is tough, but no doubt Kyle is learning all the time.

I thought he was going to get the second break but Stan was playing so well. Kyle played well above his ranking, which just shows where he can go from here. He should be very pleased with his time in Asia. Any ideas what his next tournie is?

Kyle is down for Antwerp atp250 qual but he could still get in as an alternative (4th on list, but he will be ranked 1 for qualification using a later ranking date), he is then down for Vienna atp500 qual he could still get in as an alternative (5th on list, but will be ranked 2nd in qualification)

Yes still using an old ranking of 84 for main draw but shows at 52 in the qualifier ranking, about 30 places higher than anyone else for the 250 in Antwerp but look on the positive side he has been winning qualifiers pretty well, gets points and has already played when entering the main draw, so some positives there.
