Well done to Kyle. Nice for AM to have company.
Next up, Kevin Anderson who beat Kyrgios 5 - 7, 6 - 4, 6 - 1, 6 - 2.
Well done Kyle! :bravo: Missed it all as there was no way I was leaving Andy's match, but I didn't expect Kyle to whizz through his match quite so quickly! He obviously put in a good solid performance. I hope that his next match is not scheduled the same time as Andy's!!

Four British players in the top 55 of the singles race!
Well done Kyle. :swingin:
I'm so pleased for Kyle, first time in the third round at the French Open and now ranked at 41 (according to the live rankings). He'll go top 40 if he beats Anderson.
He's first on, on court 2 tomorrow.
Wishing Kyle all the best of luck  :thumbup

Excellent effort from kedders. Feel like he will be making 2nd week of a slam sooner rather than later
I watched as much of Kyle's match as I could until Andy came on court. I was very impressed with Kyle. I thought he played a good competitive match and he certainly should come away from it with a lot of positives.

Given that players seem to be older now than when the Rafa/Nole/Andy generation came to the fore, Kyle is still making progress. 4 British players in the top 55 singes race this year. Can you imagine that a year ago?
Anderson broke the top ten just under two years ago.
As Jim Courier said today, he just has to learn how to block back the big servers. And I think Andy in one of his interviews very diplomatically said that Kyle looked like top hundred, now top fifty and the rest is down to his work ethic and development.
Glass very much half full and just has to keep doing the things on and off court to make more progress! :)
Kyle straight into the main draw at Queen's after the withdrawal of Diego Schwartzman.
He's last on Centre Court, tomorrow, against Shapovalov.

Oh Kyle  Denis S played well but despite Bouncy and Lloydy's oleaginous commentary the 18 yr old isn't the second coming, it was another one lost by Kyle between the ears, I'm afraid  Oh well, better luck at Wimbo.
Was broken in his last service game. I really like Kyle, but surely he should have broken through by now and started to get to the finals, if not winning some 250 tournaments? He is 22 now. Or am I being harsh?
JAMES4578
19-06-2017, 17:37
Disappointing Kyle fell away right at the end there and couldn't quite produce today, however Shapovalov rose to challenge.
Definitely - that last game was a shocker for Kyle and probably due to the pressure of being the home boy on home soil. He'll have to learn to cope with that though.

Kyle has a chance to improve in Eastbourne next week. Hope to see Shapovalov v Berdy at Queens on Wednesday
Disappointing, but I had a bad feeling about this one.

I agree, he has bags of potential but too often loses matches he should be winning. Definitely between the ears maybe time for a sports psychologist...
He plays Donald Young in the first round at Eastbourne.

Kyle fought back to take 2nd and had ascendancy early in 3rd, however unfortunately Young takes it 6-3 in 3rd-disappointing.
Extremely disappointing about Kyle.
Yet another match Kyle should, and could, have won. Come on coach, sort him out...we all know how capable he is - he can't keep losing three-setters in this manner. It's becoming a habit - and one he needs to break SOON.
I thought Dan was the one with the bad habits! :pirate:
Kyle really should have won the first set there - he had so many break points. It definitely seems to be a mental thing with him.
What's happened to Kyle? Saw part of the match and he really should have won that match. As GUB says it was on his racquet. Really disappointing.
:smashed: :smashed:
Oh dear, Kyle losing from a winning position yet again. Thought I heard the commies on Eurosport say that he has split from his coach, Ryan Jones.

Kyle has dropped his coach Ryan Jones so not sure he has one at present.
Yes just heard that...hope he gets a good replacement soon. GBR needs him.
He's first on Court 3, tomorrow, against Alex Ward.
Not a good start, as his serve gets broken.
I'm afraid he's being outplayed by Alex, 0 - 2.
All these Red button channels and no Klyle Edmonds vs Ward??
They're on the BBC website, Pam. Kyle finally wins a game.
They're on the BBC website, Pam. Kyle finally wins a game.
Thank you very much!
I really think this is very poor from the BBC not to have it on one of those many red button matches.
It is on the red button. Can we try and keep to one thread please?
Oh dear, he loses the first set.
Pick one thread or the other Stell, last warning...
I've now decided to pick this one. Kyle running away with the third set, 4 - 0.
He wins the third set 6 - 2.
Kyle finally wins a match at Wimbledon 6 - 1.

Was pretty straightforward for Kyle once he got 2nd, however uncertain start and obviously felt the pressure. Need to give some credit to Alex who obviously done well to qualify though.
Well done Kyle! Tricky to have to play a qualifier, especially a fellow Brit.

Kyle has impressive shots...but he does struggle to play the big points well. Hope it's something he can improve in time.
roytennisfan
06-07-2017, 13:49
Kyle is now loosing too many big points, been the story of this year for him, he has the shots but seems to bottle it, definitely a mind issue! He is a shadow of the player who beat 5 top 20 players and has gone backwards. He so much needs a winning run somewhere, even if it is a challenger. Best we can hope for today is a set but can't see it.

Can't help but think, that this was a winnable match for Kyle, had he taken his chances and consolidated
Monfils wins 6 - 4.
Kyle will become British number three, if Bedene wins tomorrow. As Bedene is only three points behind Kyle in the live rankings.
JAMES4578
06-07-2017, 14:31
Whilst it was a reasonable effort from Kyle he didn't really make the most of his chances which was frustrating, good periods of play but Monfils by far the stronger on the big points. Hopefully though Edmund can take positives from this big match and add to his game and belief.
I didn't watch much of the match. I thought the outcome was going to be all too predictable. I think Kyle has reached as far as he is going to go. I am far more enthusiastic about young Jay Clarke.
As the commies said, Gael had another gear to go up to when he needed it.
Agreed. Tough loss for Edmund but I feel like he is improving, it was a big ask.
Kyle is up next in Atlanta, Washington, Rogers cup, Cinci and the uso he has just updated his schedule.

14-07-2017, 11:34
Let's hope Kyle can get his form back and address the issues he has had recently which may be more mental than physical, his form has certainly dipped
June 16 - 1st week Jan 17 5 wins against top20 players plus Isner (21) at US open, 2 defeats to players outside top 100 lowest 117
since 1st week of Jan Wins against top50 only 1 (Dan on clay!) 4 losses to outside top 100 lowest 242
last year/early 2017 he got a number of wins to make Queens QF, USopen R4 , Beijing QF Antwerp SF Brisbane QF (week1 2017) QF Delay Beach (feb)
since then his best is Round of 32, really hope he can start to recover in these tournaments
With Serbia DC and Rio taking place last summer, Kyle didn't play Atlanta or Washington in 2016, so they are chances to add some much needed points and to boost his confidence. With his ability I was expecting him to progress into a position of being seeded by now for Slams, hopefully this is just a blip and he will pick up and achieve that sometime in 2018

A good recovery considering how he was playing before the rain, was missing too many serves and backhands, poor returns and no break points. Kyle sometimes gives the impression of being lazy and not getting into the correct position to play his shots, especially his backhand ones which you can tell are going to miss from his positioning, either into the net or long.

Completely different challenge for Kyle in the QF, top seed Jack Sock and the home crowd after having about 20 watching him in previous match.
Well done Kyle :yahoo: :yahoo:
Best of luck with Jack Sock - a bit too late at night for me these days :thumbup::thumbup:
