Anyone know what the final result was?
Kyle lost the final I'm afraid. But still, it was a very good run.
Steven @GBtennis

Kyle won his first round match at Eastbourne against Kenny de Schepper who is currently at an all time high of 82. 6-4 6-4
He took 5/7 BPs and did not give his opponent any!
He is due to play G. Simon next but elsewhere there is a tweet that Simon may have injured himself training.

I believe Kyle has won his 2nd round match today well done to him
He's not on the OOP for a R2 match today ... his opponent is due to be Gilles Simon. The Frenchman fell and tweaked his ankle/leg yesterday but sounds as though he was OK in training today. Unless he's withdrawn as a precaution in which case Kyle would play a Lucky Loser from Qualifying.
Kyle is currently on court and into a 3rd set of doubles R1 with Thornley against Butorac/Ram.
EDIT: The Brits lost in a very close match to winners Booty and Ram 4'6, 7'6(7), 10'8.

yes, I agree, terrific game from Kyle, and good experience for him, should give him plenty of confidence in his ability to cut it with the big boys

Watched the match as live on Eurosport this evening.
My first time being able to watch Kyle on a high quality tv feed.
The thing I was most impressed by was his consistent strokeplay. You don't get nervous if he gets into a longish rally like you do with the majority of other British players.
His shots are also quite aesthetically pleasing which, while not a characteristic required for winning, is something I look for in my sports people.
The only shame is that the beeb did not show it. Would have been far better if they had shown this one instead of that atrocious Robson match. Awful to watch. Just awful compared to the fluidity of Kyle's shot play
I think the reason that the Beeb did not show the match is that they only appear to be covering the WTA matches. Maybe they don't have the TV rights for the ATP matches.

Whilst Kyle is dropping Dusan will be rising, just won his third match in Austria into the semi final (ATP250 on clay) showing just how tough a competitor Kyle had knocked around the court in Belgrade

Well, the other guy just gave Kyle that game - now 2-5. It must seem odd to go from the hugely raucous Davis Cup crowd to playing in front of a handful of people.

Diez just held serve for 3-1. Kyle had him at deuce a few times in a bid to break back but now just needs to hold his own serve and look for further opportunities if he can.
Kyle definitely out of sorts.:sad:
Diaz serving for the match at 5 -2.
Oh dear he lost - am gutted for Kyle - just not his day :crying:
............. and that's it folks. A pity because if Kyle had been on anything like his best form he should have won that match and gained valuable points.
Very disappointing to say the least but in contrast a sweet reaction from Steve Diez who wins his first ever ATP match at age 25. If it wasn't humid enough his tears just ramped it up. ;)

Both Kyle and Dan are just outside the race top 50. Hopefully at least one of them will make top 50 by yearend
Sad its wasn't kyle's day today. I had hope he'd turn it around watching the scores on the app. But I guess you can't really get a sense of the match without seeing it
A shame, but perhaps it's the downer that sometimes follows a great high as being the main man in Serbia must have been for him.
Shame, Kyle certainly came back down to earth with a bump there. Diez was very nippy round the court and made Kyle look a bit leaden. Lots for Kyle to work on but he knows that already and is up for it I'm sure.
I guess it must be tough to get back into it after wins like the had during the Davis cup. Even djoko found it hard to come back from winning the French
I hadn't even realised he had played. Switched TV on as soon as I had finished work and walked the dogs and obviously missed him. I checked the schedule as well and obviously just didn't see it ... blind as a bat!

I suppose the "glass is half full" comment is that he has made considerable progress this year and there is a still a lot to improve!

Oh dear - not a good day for Kyle.
Missed this, did anyone see it???
Yeah. It started with promise but then Daniel relaxed and Kyle tensed. He lost the break and then the set. He seemed to struggle more as it went on, and Daniel seemed to settle more the longer it went on. Tough for Kyle to lose it after a good start but I'm sure it all comes with practice. He is young, his best tennis is ahead of him, along with more Olympics
Thanks Jerry. Disappointed for Kyle but he has time on his side still. Have been following him for quite a while.
I'm sure it's just a blip for him. I hope that as Dan has now over taken him in the rankings, he can do well in other events between now and the DC so he can keep his place as second singles player, I think he deserves it
Kyle still has a lot to add to his game before he can be considered the real deal. He has amazing power but lacks variety at the moment but I'm confident that will come in time. To be honest ranking position isn't the be all and it is good to see him, Dan and Aljaz fighting it out for 2nd Brit. We've waited a long time for competition like that.

Kyle is coming on leaps and bounds but is young and is always going to have setbacks, sometimes playing a lower ranked player can pile on the pressure and his opponent was obviously tricky having put out Sock. Kyle is currently showing as 55 in the ATP race (with Dan 56 but chasing more points in a challenger this week). It is such a pity that there are no longer points for Davis Cup or the Olympics this year, meaning that Kyle's overall rank is dropping. Had there been points allocated Kyle would easily be in the top 50 in the ATP race which shows how much progression he has made this year with some good results on all three surfaces. Let's hope he continues to progress and does reach that top 50 during 2016.
Maybe a dozy question, but the points they earned in Davis cup last year...are they taken off this year?
Yes Pat, e.g Andy dropped 130 pts for last year's Quarters in the week of the Serbia tie. If you follow Steven on britishtennis.net, his top 25 Brits tables show all that info and more. He is an amazing guy with stats and lovely into the bargain!
Have to agree, there should be points for Davis cup and Olympics again removing them was the wrong choice. People end up penalised for playing for their country.

I agree, why was it decided to stop giving points for these events ?
I agree, it seems to me the powers that be are, and have been, forever messing with the points system. I remember a time (definitely when Tim was playing) when a player earned more points for beating a higher-ranked opponent. Not a bad incentive...
Kyle is playing the week before us open, Salem something I posted it on Dan Evans thread

New one on me.....
United Airline cancelled a flight after we had checked-in. Then lost my clothing bag so we missed next flight. Flew us to a different location and then proceeded to loose my tennis bag and coaches clothing bag.
So arrived at wrong airport with no bags at all and then paid to hire a car to drive to correct city.
Clothing bag apparently found in Denver and we are near New York.

Kyle lost 6-3 7-5, pity not an easy one Troicki, but had hoped he would at least take it to a decider
No it's a tough match. I did hope for a decider too. But I think troicki is also looking to find form for the US so I think he would have got the victory regardless
I think in view of Kyle's obvious ability and DC achievements we are all expecting him to do better than he is...not quite sure what is holding back (just a little bit). I think he needs a big win to give him the confidence to "kick on" now he's on the main tour. Don't want him having to back to Challengers.

Brilliant play from Kyle, well done:yahoo::yahoo:
:dance:Fantastic win for Kyle! Gasquet first seed to tumble thanks to Kyle. Nike colour very strong...it looked like the dye had run from his top down to his shorts. But that is only by-the-by! Didn't stop him playing great sustained tennis!

Well done Kyle, a very winnable second round Lacko is 28 and #99 and Escobedo is 20 and #201
Lacko has just retired at two sets all having lost the 4th so Kyle will face Escobedo (and the us crowd)
If Kyle wins he is due to meet Isner(20) in R3 but Isner just gone 2 sets down to Tiafoe
Kyle would meet Novak in R4, if they both make it
